More about Elizabeth Brundage…

Join us for a look into writing, what Elizabeth describes as a joyful affliction. “I love putting words together. I love language, and I love the sound that words make when you put them in a sentence. It’s a musical process for me.”
Elizabeth becomes very involved with the psychology of the characters she develops. Attention to detail includes rich descriptions of the settings of her works. Her goal is to make the story as real as possible.

The Doctor’s Wife, published in 2004, was set in the Albany area and dealt with marital loneliness. As strain of Michael Knowles’ work at a local abortion clinic and busy medical practice erodes their relationship, Annie becomes open to a dangerous liaison.

Elizabeth’s second book, Somebody Else’s Daughter, was published in July 2008. This work looks into the private lives of families living in the Berkshires. How the past haunts the present is the major theme of the work. Nate Gallagher takes a teaching job at the Pioneer School, acknowledging his compulsion to see the daughter he gave up for adoption. Willa struggles with feelings of loss and abandonment while living in an affectionate, prosperous home. The long neglected marriage of adoptive parents Candace and Joe still contains love, that when nurtured, endures.

Elizabeth Brundage settled in the Capital Region with her family ten years ago. Following a degree from Hampshire College in Amherst Massachusetts, she studied at the University of Iowa’s Writer’s Workshop.
